HIRES CHIEF INVESTMENT OFFICER

GLENDALE, Calif. -- April 21, 2010 --American Realty Advisors, an institutional real estate investment manager, announced today that Raymond E. Kivett has joined the firm as Chief Investment Officer. Based in American's Chicago office, Mr. Kivett will oversee the solicitation, analysis, underwriting and negotiation of debt and equity real estate acquisitions and investments on a nationwide level. As CIO, Mr. Kivett will oversee all new investment activity for American's commingled funds and separate accounts. Mr. Kivett will also serve as a member of American's Investment Committee.

Mr. Kivett's extensive background in commercial real estate spans over 22 years. Before joining American, he served in a similar role as Executive Vice-President - Chief Investment Officer of Ridge Property Trust, a subsidiary of Prudential Financial, Inc., where he oversaw the firm's acquisition activity, and under his leadership, assets experienced impressive growth, tripling in size. Previously, Mr. Kivett was the Vice President of Acquisitions at Prudential Real Estate Investors. In addition to his commercial real estate track record, he also worked as an Audit Senior and later a Consultant at Arthur Andersen & Company.

Mr. Kivett earned his Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from the University of Iowa and is a Certified Public Accountant. In addition, Mr. Kivett is a member of the Association of Industrial Real Estate Brokers, the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Real Estate Financial Executives Association.
